Principal Teacher & Owner of The Anderson School of Dance
Debbie has danced for over 39 years starting with Ballet at the age of 6, then progressing onto Latin American, Ballroom & Freestyle Disco. Debbie completed all of her medals under the training of Mr & Mrs Yard at the Walderslade School of Dancing at the Hook Meadow Hall.
There, Debbie realised her passion was in Freestyle Disco & Latin American Dance of which she loved. Debbie stayed at the school until Mr & Mrs Yard retired & then decided to open up her own Dance School and so, The Anderson School of Dance was born.
Along with the Dance styles mentioned above Debbie has also taken classes in Line Dancing, Ceroc & Salsa for fun, Modern Jazz, Theatre Craft, Tap & Lyrical to broaden her knowledge.
Debbie has taught many Street Crews over the years & Competition Teams of whom she loves to choreograph the formations for. Debbie is also utilising all of her Latin Americal skills to produce her own Latino Fitness Classes, as well as starting her own Solo Latin American Technique Class.
Debbie is a Fully Qualified Dance Teacher with the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) & is studying to expand her teaching qualifications in the not-too-distant future to open classes in other styles.
Dance always has & always will be Debbie's one love. The School is her number one priority. Debbie enjoys teaching & sharing her love of dance with others. Debbie is super proud of each & everyone of her pupils & likes to give them as many opportunities as possible within the Dance World as she can.
Lorna has worked her way through the School to become Vice Principal of The Anderson School of Dance.
Lorna helps Debbie in every way possible within the School, whether it is to greet the pupils & parents at the front door, to help pupils of all ages within Class with certain moves or steps, or to help with various ideas on all of the various Shows & Competitions that we create routines for. Lorna is hot on Health & Safety & she will always go over & above to make sure everything is okay within the class environment.
Lorna loves to share her knowledge that she has learnt over the years. As well as her Dance experience within ASD Dance, Lorna has also spent many years Disco Dancing, as well as becoming a competent Baton Twirler, having won many Solo Majorette Competitions at National Level. Lorna's knowledge & experience of formation work certainly comes in handy when it comes to our Show or Competition routines.
Lorna has flourished into the fantastic Dancer she is today who dances from the heart & with pure emotion in her routines. Lorna loves to watch all of the pupils grow within themselves & become the best Dancers they can be no matter of their ability.
Debbie has been teaching Emma to dance since she was 6 years old. Now 24 years old Emma has blossomed into an amazing Dancer. Starting class as a very shy little girl dancing at the back of the hall 1 hour per week, to helping at the front of various classes 2-3 times per week at her peak.
Thanks to Debbie, Dance is now Emma's passion too, and despite having a medical condition Emma loves to dance & share her knowledge with others.
Emma still loves to perform in all of the Shows & Competitions that crop up as well as working towards her own exams & studying Teacher Training. Emma is a committed & determined Dancer & she will always help others if they are struggling in class & how to improve themselves.
Emma has been nominated for the prestigious Freestyle Scholarships Awards in Birmingham by an outside IDTA Examiner for 7 years in the row. An outstanding achievement for sure!
Due to Emmas work committments she is unable to help out in extra Classes as much as she would like to nowadays but she still helps out whenever she can.
8 years ago, Daniel wanted to come along to where his big Sister Emma danced. Back then Emma did not agree as Dance was Emmas thing whilst Daniel had his football. Fast forward to where we are today & Emma / Daniel have a fantastic partnership dancing together in their Street Duets & having great competitiveness within the School. Daniels love for Dance - specifically finding his own Street Dance style - has grown immensley over the years.
Daniel is an incredibly talented Street Dancer & a great all-round Performer. He loves helping others in Class, whether that be the Tiny Tots, the Junior pupils learning Show routines, or teaching / choreographing within the Street Classes. Daniel is a popular young man with all age groups. He has a caring nature & is fun to be around.
Nicole has been dancing for 11 years since the age of 5. Dance has now become Nicoles passion too! Despite Nicole having a complex medical condition, Nicole loves to help in all of the classes she attends. Nicole assists with the music in the Class, helping at the front & being proactive by taking it upon herself to help the younger pupils who struggle with certain routines or if they need a little confidence boost!
Nicole is a fantastic Dancer having progressed through all of the classes from the Tiny Tots to the Advanced Senior Class where she is now.
Nicole is looking to start her Student Teacher Training in the coming years & loves to perform in all the Competitions & Shows we take part in & produce.
Rosie has been with us at ASD Dance for approximately 6 years now. A couple of years ago Rosie expressed an interest in helping with the younger class & since then she has been at the front helping with the Tiny Tots on a Wednesday Evening ever since.
