01 The Founder

Debbie Anderson founded The Anderson School of Dance in 1999, specialising in Freestyle dance in just two classes. Now, 27 years later, every genre is taught at ASD Dance.

IDTA qualified to scholarship standard in both Freestyle and Street Dance — a distinction that puts her in a very small group of teachers nationally — Debbie brings the same warmth and ambition to every session, whether it's a toddler's first Mini Movers class or a senior squad preparing for Blackpool. She is also qualified to teach Latin American Ballroom, Line dance and dance fitness.

The measure of any school is what happens to its pupils over time. Many of the children who trained with Debbie in those early years now bring their own sons and daughters to class. That's not loyalty — it's 27 years of results, one family at a time.

Kirsty Spavins

Ballet · Tap · Contemporary

Our resident Ballet, Tap and Contemporary teacher, Kirsty has a vast knowledge of dance styles through her ISTD training. She holds a BTEC National Diploma in Dance as well as an HNC and HND, and brings extensive stage experience to every lesson — shared with pupils of all ages at ASD Dance.

Emma Howse

Teacher · Competitor

Emma grew up through the school, starting at around six years old — and though life has got in the way a few times, her passion always brings her back. Now 31 and studying for her IDTA International Supreme Awards, she loves helping pupils of all ages while still competing herself.

Debbie, Kirsty and Emma share the same love for dance. All three are passionate about ASD Dance and strive to get the best out of every pupil — while still having fun in class and making sure everyone is okay.

02 What Makes Us Different

Warm, welcoming

Not a strict school

We're welcoming and fun — not a regimented competitive machine. Every pupil matters, every ability is respected. Come as you are; grow from there.

Beginner to national finalist

We teach absolute beginners — and we also compete at the Follow Your Dreams UK Nationals every year in Blackpool. Those two things are not in conflict: we just meet each pupil where they are and push them forward.

IDTA qualified to scholarship standard

Debbie holds IDTA qualifications in Freestyle and Street Dance at scholarship level — an external examiner assessment that very few teachers achieve nationally.
